GRID Video Scrambler

Simple and free program for Windows that scrambles and unscrambles videos, using a "GRID code". Using the same code in reverse on an already scrambled video will unscramble instead. The GRID code can be understood as a sort of password.

The intended use is for publicly sharing the scrambled videos, but privately sharing the GRID code for unscrambling it, so only your friends for example can view the real video.

Valid GRID codes consist of "GRID.<grid size>.<change count>.<random seed>"for example "GRID.46.384.1403927874", but you can just generate random ones with a click of a button and not ever need to understand what the numbers mean.

The main idea is to still have a playable video even after being scrambled. This is a lossy process and involves re-encoding the video to scramble/unscramble, but it works well enough for fun. Even-numbered "grid sizes" seem to produce better results with less artifacts.



This is not a substitution for actual encryption, nor is it an attempt to create anything that serious, and you should not rely on it to protect the contents of your videos. Please only use it for fun.
