Parallel Bible (danish/english)

This is a simple parallel bible tool, using a 1933 Danish bible from Runeberg, and the KJV from Project Gutenberg, as source material.

Features:

- Automatically saves and loads your current book/chapter to localstorage so you can just close and reopen where you left off
- Dropdown selection for the various books, same for chapters
- Previous/Next chapter buttons

Try it out embedded into itch by clicking the run button. There is a fullscreen button bottom right to make it bigger. You can download website.zip and run it locally instead also.

I believe it will be a useful language learning tool, since the Danish and English are presented together. Why is it useful to have two languages side by side?  For over 100 years, the LOEB classics have been a way for everyday people to learn Latin and Greek alongside English. The famous rosetta stone is probably the best example of a parallel text, because it finally allowed decyphering ancient Egyptian scripts.

The Danish bible and KJV were reformatted and realigned. There were lots of instances where verses are counted differently or merged with the previous verse in the Danish. One verse was completely missing also. For all differences, the Danish text was modified to align with the KJV, which was left alone aside from formatting.

The result now is that all verses have been verified to occur sequentially, match each other's verse numbering, have same verse counts for all chapters and books, and the total expected verse count for a bible... which altogether means there shouldn't be any major errors present.

This was really annoying to do but the result is very nice. I will include the plaintext bibles for English/Danish for anyone interested. If you do make use of them, please include a link here so others can download them and use it themselves, or provide the downloads of the raw text files yourself.
